MY STORY

At 50, I was a new empty nester, a board member of a global property consultancy, and had what looked like my dream job.

On paper, I had everything I'd worked towards. After 30 years in research and consultancy, I was still doing work I loved – researching, writing, storytelling, travelling, working with truly brilliant people worldwide.

But the reality felt different. I was exhausted from keeping all the balls in the air, crippled by imposter syndrome, and a fully paid-up member of the People Pleasing Club – if it were an Olympic sport, I'd have won gold.

I'd always been driven and ambitious – through school, university, my career. And as a vicar's daughter, I'd grown up believing you always put other people first.

There was a cost to that.

Life had also thrown its share of challenges my way – chronic illness, sudden bereavement, divorce, single parenting. So I know something about navigating change that isn't of your choosing.

I trained as a counsellor for several years, but it was coaching's forward-looking, action-focused approach that really struck a chord.

The coaching I've experienced myself has been transformative – helping me get clearer on what I actually want, recognise when I'm out of alignment, challenge beliefs that have held me back, and understand emotions as useful data rather than something to suppress.

I realised I wanted something different – something more me. A slower pace, with space for what matters most: my relationships, my health, travel and nature – while still learning, and still making a difference.

And so Clarity Coaching was born.
